ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Experience Codorus Outdoors (ECO): The York Hiking club will be participating in the Experience Codorus Outdoor event on Friday, June 17 (4 PM – 9 PM), through Saturday, June 18 (10 AM -9 PM). The Friends of Codorus State Park sponsor the event. The club could use people to host a York Hiking Club table on Friday and Saturday. The Friends of Codorus also wanted to know if the club had any members that would want to host a session on backpacking, camping, or hiking. Please contact Alan Noble (717-758-8470 or amnoble@live.com) if interested in hosting a table or putting on a presentation.
Board Member and Officer Openings: The club still needs volunteers for the Secretary, which one of three officers for the club, and the Activities Chair. These roles are critical to the ongoing operation of the club. For more information contact Alan Noble, President, or Kathy Miller Yost, Treasurer.
2022 Hike Leaders Wanted: Please contact Alan Noble (717-758-8470 or

SUNDAY, JUNE 5 LONG HIKE (13 MILES) - This will be a point-to-point hike along one of my favorite trails, the Tuscarora, but with a twist. We’ll hike a rugged and dry section from Colonel Denning State Park to RT 74 (Waggoners Gap). There will be a couple of fine views at Flat Rock and the Charlie Irvin Shelter and a big climb in the beginning. Lots of rocks, probably some pokey things and a secret airplane crash site.

SUNDAY, JUNE 12 MEDIUM HIKE (8 MILES): On this adventure we'll explore Blue Mountain 1200' section of Appalachian trail seeing Darlington shelter and a unique mural at PA 850 turnaround. Guess what mural is made from? Then lunch at shelter (where Tuscarora Trail begins) on return trip and again through a cool tunnel under PA 944! Bring plenty of water, lunch, snacks, wear sturdy hiking shoes. Those wishing a shorter hike can park car at RT 850 parking lot for one way.

FRIDAY, JUNE 17 THROUGH SATURDAY, JUNE 18: Visit the York Hiking Table at the Experience Codorus Outdoor (ECO) event from Friday starting at 4:00 PM through 9:00 PM and then on Saturday from 10:00 AM through 9:00 PM. The ECO event is sponsored by the Friends of Codorus State Park in conjunction with Codorus State Park. Please contact Alan Noble (
or 717-758-8470 if you are able to volunteer at the YHC table.
SATURDAY, JUNE 18 MEDIUM HIKE (5 MILES): Mary Ann Furnace loop hike at Codorus State Park. Portions of the trail are hilly and hiking poles may be useful as well as hiking boots. Depending on the weather conditions, the trail could be muddy. The hike will include both hiking on some of the camp loops and the Mary Ann Furnace trail loop. Please contact the hike leader for directions to the campground visitor parking lot or for an alternate meet-up location

SUNDAY, JUNE 26 SHORT HIKE (3 MILES): Afternoon hike through Rocky Ridge County Park. We will start at the large gravel parking lot at the end of Deininger Rd. We will hike the blue rectangle trail and then connect with the white rectangle trail back to the parking lot. Bring hiking boots or trail shoes, water. Hiking poles may be useful for the steep and rocky sections of the trail. We will start at the wood fence in the parking lot.
