All are welcome to come on out on a hike to see what the club is all about.

 

A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

Sunday, October 1 - Long hike (12+ miles): This hike is exploring the second part of section 4 of Appalachian Trail. We’ll start at Eckville parking lot to Rt 309. There is a hill near start- about 750ft then mostly level. With lots to see. Those interested can hike a couple more miles to see Knife Edge or we can explore Hawk Mt near Eckville. Bring lunch, snacks, plenty of water. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, can bring bug spray, poles or whatever makes you comfortable. Please let the hiker leader know in advance if attending, to arrange a shuttle. 

Meeting Location: Emigsville park/ride Meeting North End meeting place Exit 24 route 83 Park and ride Lot N/E Corner Time: 7:00AM (shuttle).

Friday, October 6 - Annual Meeting and Covered Dish: Annual meeting at the York Township Park Building. Items to be considered: The election of officers. Time 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Please contact Alan Noble at or 717-758-8470 and let him know what you are bringing.

 

From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.

Sunday, October 8 - Medium hike: (6-8 Miles): This hike will start on Teal trail then take multiple trails exploring Spring Valley Park. Bring snacks and water, wear good hiking shoes and come on out for a great hike in beautiful southern York County woods!

Meeting Location: Spring Valley County Park. Rte 83 Exit 8 (Glen Rock), east on Rte 216, take first right onto Potosi Rd, continue on Potosi Rd approximately 2.8 miles. Parking lot is just past Blymire Hollow Rd on the left.

Sunday, October15 -Short Hike: (3-4 miles) it should be a beautiful fall day with leaves showing off their autumn beauty. From the church we will take a leisurely hike down the hill to Lake Williams. Then head back up the hill on a different trail. Then we will walk over a Perrydell farm road to 209 Reynolds Mill Road for some hot soup and social time.

Saturday, October 21 - Medium Hike (7 miles): We will meet at 107 Race Street Bainbridge, PA 17502 at 8:30 a.m. which is Koser Park. Some of us will park their car at Koser Park, the other half will car pool to Marietta where we will park and start our hike. We will walk on the side of the Susquehanna River back to Koser Park. There is lot’s to see, and the scenery should be breathtaking this time of year. . This is not a difficult hike. The route is flat and paved. All you need is a good pair of shoes, something to drink, and a snack if you desire to do so. You will not need to bring hiking poles. 

 

Meeting Location: Koser Park – However, if people prefer to meet at Red Robin call me.

Sunday, October 22 - Short Hike Nixon Park: This is the perfect time to be in the great outdoors. Cool temperatures autumn leaves. What more can you ask for? This will be a pleasant hike through areas that we know well, but hey we are with friends, so how boring can it be?

Meeting place: Lower parking lot.
Meeting Time: 1:30 length of hike 3-4 miles

Sunday, October 29- Short or medium hike (3-6miles): Come check out the new Paw-paw Loop trail! This gorgeous little spur off Turkey Hill trail is loaded with Paw-paw and other trees. We start at Chestnut Grove Natural Area then take Turkey Hill Trail downhill to meet this ¾ mile loop. There are 2 small stream crossing using stepping stones so no wet feet! Trail has a small, gradual hill to climb to level area then somewhat steep descent (nothing major) to stream then mild uphill return to Chestnut Grove. Those who wish to do longer hike, can continue N or S on Turkey Hill Trail which is 6 miles total and travels along Enola Low Grade Trail. Bring water, snacks, poles and bug spray if desired. Wear good hiking shoes and dress for weather.

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at
