A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13 - MEDIUM HIKE: We will meet at Hanover Junction and hike to Glen Rock. This is part of the rail trail system. After a break at Glen Rock, we can hike back to Hanover Junction. The entire hike is 9 miles long. This is not a challenging path, but lots to see. Bring water and snacks.

Meeting Location: Hannover Junction, 2433 Seven Valleys Rd. Seven Valleys, PA 17360

Saturday, November 20, 2021: Fall hike at Harpers Ferry, WVA! Hike will take the AT into the town of Harpers Ferry starting from the parking lot off rt 340 after second bridge. We will walk the C&O canal and ascend Maryland Heights to the scenic look outs and return. This is a strenuous hike of about 8-10 miles. Can explore the town. Optional dinner stop on way home. Bring hike boots, poles, lunch, snacks, water. There is a national park fee per vehicle, so if you have a national parks pass, please bring it along.

Meet at TGIF parking lot off Rt 15 and 97 at 8 AM to car pool. Car pool fee $ 5.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 21 - TURKEY HIKE will be held at Rocky Ridge Park. THIS IS A MEMBERS ONLY EVENT!!!
Meet at the first parking lot on the left as you go into Rocky Ridge. Hike will begin at 10:00 AM. This will be a 5 to 6 mile hike through Rocky Ridge park. We will return to the Ruffed Grouse Pavilion by 1:00 PM to enjoy cider and cookies, and then lunch. Meal will be served immediately following. You must sign up in advance for the meal. Reservations must be made by Wednesday November 17th. We will have soup, sandwich makings and side dishes. Please call and see what you can bring. Besides soup, we will need turkey for sandwiches, crackers, cider, cookies, rolls. bread, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and other possibilities such as deviled eggs, relishes, chips and, of course, lots of desserts as always. You will need to bring your own utensils and soup. Dues may be paid at this time.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

 

Board Member and Officer Openings: The club is in need of some members to take over some very important roles, with immediate openings for Activities Chair, Trails Chair, and Secretary. These roles are critical to the ongoing operation of the club. For more information you may contact Alan Noble, President or the outgoing chairmen, David Lukes (Activities) and Tom Morley (Trails).

 

Message: Annual Membership Meeting will be held on October 15 at the York Township Recreational Building.

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

A sheet is handed out to all New hikers at the parking lots before the hikes.

 

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
