May 7,  Long hike: 14 miles, This hike is continuing Appalachian Trail from Port Clinton to Eckville parking area. This section has 3 great lookouts of Blue Mt, Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle. We will pass Pocahontas Campsite, Windsor Furnace shelter and Hamburg Reservoir plus 4 springs: Pocahontas, Minnehala, Gold and Panther Spring stream. There are lots of rocks out to Pinnacle, otherwise should be ridge and woods walking. Pace approx. 2.5mph depending on hikers. Wear sturdy hiking boots, bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch and hiking poles if needed. End of hike stop at Peanut Shop for anyone is interested. 

Time: 7am Meet at Emigsville North End meeting place Exit 24 route 83 Park and ride Lot N/E Corner. Hike leader: Janine Zell

May 7: Short Hike: 5 1/2 mile loop hike from Lock #12 parking lot (McCalls ferry rd.) starting on the Mason Dixon trail along the Susquehanna River past the Holtwood dam to McCall’s fall trail. There will be osprey and the eagle’s nests to see rock climbing, and a hill before we loop back on the ridge to the parking lot. Hiking shoes/boots, water and a snack.

SUNDAY, MAY 21: MEDIUM HIKE (about 7 miles) this hike takes us from Nixon Park, over to and around Lake Williams and back through Nixon Park for a loop. Bring hiking boots, water, snacks, and a lunch.

Meeting Location: Hollow Creek Trail Parking Lot, 400 Valley Rd (39.87788, -76.72707) at 10:00 AM.

Sunday, May 28- Medium Hike (7 miles): Hike perimeter of Rocky Ridge County Park we will hike rectangular marked trails starting with Red, and continuing on Blue, White, Teal and Yellow. Trail has several hills, and some may be strenuous and rocky in some areas. Bring hiking boots or trail shoes, water, and snacks.

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

A sheet is handed out to all New hikers at the parking lots before the hikes.

 

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
