SATURDAY, MARCH 5 - MEDIUM HIKE (5 MILES): Mary Ann Furnace loop hike at Codorus State Park. Portions of the trail are hilly and hiking poles may be useful as well as hiking boots. Depending on the weather conditions, the trail could be muddy. The hike will include both hiking on some of the camp loops and the Mary Ann Furnace trail loop. Please contact the hike leader for directions to the campground visitor parking lot or for an alternate meet-up location

Meeting Location: Codorus State Park Campground Visitor Parking by the Camp Store Departure Time: 9:00 AM
Hike Leader: Andrew Bankowski, (410) 493-3150 or Carpool Fee: Not Applicable

SUNDAY, MARCH 13 - SHORT HIKE (3 MILES): We will meet in the parking lot on Sparton Road, just off Hess Farm Road. From there we will walk on the road for a short distance to connect with trail #5 and enjoy a walk around part of Lake Redman, passing through the bird sanctuary toward the end of the hike. This hike is approximately 3 miles with a few short, mild climbs along the way. Come out and join us for a stroll through a very pretty area of York County. If it’s raining, please call ahead to confirm we are still on.

Meeting Location: Parking Lot #3 (William Kain Park Map) Departure Time: 12:00 Noon

SUNDAY, MARCH 20 - LONG HIKE (12 MILES): We’ll head to the Jim Thorpe area for a bit of history and a bit of exercise. Much of the hike will be spent on the old Switchback Railroad (the history part) but we’ll be going up to the ridge via the straight up Pisgah Plane (the exercise part) to the Pisgah Vista. From there it’ll be an exploration, as there are some interesting looking side trails in an old strip-mining area at the top. If we find these areas to be off limits, the Switchback Trail will save us. We’ll also be searching for the remains of an old mine tunnel. Mileage is approximate, depending on how much exploration we do.

This will be a loop, beginning at Mauch Chunk Lake. Bring good shoes/boots/ice traction, snacks, lunch, and water.

Meeting Locations:

If meeting at the trailhead, please arrive by 8:30 AM.

SUNDAY, MARCH 27 - MEDIUM HIKE (6 MILES): Turkey Hill Trail and Enola Low Grade Rail Trail loop. The Turkey Hill Trail has large hills to hike over and then the rail trail offers a relative flat to a slight grade. The trail could be muddy depending on the weather. This should be a good early spring hike with views of the river. Bring hiking boots or trail shoes, hiking poles could be useful, snacks, and water.
