All are welcome to come on out on a hike to see what the club is all about.

 

A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

Sunday, July 2: FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION AT JPJ 1 p.m. we will chow down hot dogs and hamburgers. Please bring a dish or dessert to round out our picnic fare. Please call or email Julie Falsetti (717-854-3434 ) by Thursday, June 29 to let her know if you are going to attend and what you are bringing, Hike Leader: Allen Britton , or 717-825-55523 We will begin our celebration by taking a 3mile hike Along Saw Mill run to Furnace Run the hike will start at 11 a.m. If anyone would like to do a longer hike be our guest. We all know the trails and will not get lost (probably)


Sunday, July 9: Short Hike, Rocky Ridge, 5 miles
We will try to avoid the ridges but will keep the rocks. 
Meeting Location: Rocky Ridge County Park. First lot on the left (at the bathrooms). 
Time 9 am.

Bring water and a snack, good hiking shoes or sneakers.

On Saturday, July 15th Medium Hike Chevrolet Trail in Woodstock, MD.
This is 6 mile hike near the Patapsco River.
There are some interesting sites on the trail. The trail is considered moderate. Poles and good hiking shoes are recommended. We will be meeting at the parking lot across from the Woodstock Inn at 8am.
I recommend that everyone arrives a little early. The parking lot fills up fast.
If interested we will be having lunch at the Woodstock Inn after the hike.

Sunday, July 16 - Short Hike: Lake Redman a Circle Hike from Boardwalk Parking Lot, about 3.4 miles. This loop has some moderate climbs and views of the Lake and streams. Meet at the Lake Redman Boardwalk Parking lot off Iron Stone Hill Road at 9:00AM. Hike Leader Bernie Frick can be reached at 717-843-6675 or


Wednesday, July 19: Short Hike: John Rudy Park: 4 miles
An easy 4 mile hike at Rudy Park on the Rail Trail We will meet there since it’s just around the corner from the North meeting place. It will be an out and back hike. 
Let’s meet at the main parking lot off Mundis Race Road, not the dog park on the hill. 
Wear comfortable shoes, bring water and binoculars if you have them. We may see some bald eagles, etc.

Saturday, July 22: Spring Valley Park 5 mile hike in. in main parking lot (the one on Potosi Road, Road).
Terrain is pretty vertical. Starts in a valley and all the trails go up fairly steep hills. We can take the maintenance roads (mostly dirt or gravel) if people prefer a flat surface, or the trails, which are narrow and rougher. Landscape is mix of forest, meadow, farm fields and the occasional man-made structure.

Saturday, July 29: Rocky Ridge: Medium Hike: 5-6 Miles
We will be hiking on the rectangle trails; red (moderate), blue (difficult), white (easy), teal
And yellow. The terrain is very rocky, hence the name, and hilly. Wear sturdy shoes and bring lots of
Water. Snacks are optional.

The club is looking for: a NEW SECURTARY and Alan Noble would surely like someone to take over the responsibility of the PRESIDENT. PLEASE: step up and volunteer for these most important positions.

 

2023 Hike Leaders Wanted: Please contact Alan Noble (717-758-8470 or ) if you would like to start leading hikes for the club. We can partner new hike leaders with experienced hike leaders.

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

A sheet is handed out to all New hikers at the parking lots before the hikes.

 

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
