A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 8, 2023, P0RK AND SAUERKRAUT HIKE (5 miles) Bernie Frick will lead a hike at 10 AM over the wonderful local well-maintained trails near JPJ. Elaine Panzitta will be the chef for the Pork and Sauerkraut NEW YEARS MEAL. It will be served at 1:30 PM. Fee for the delicious meal will be $5.00 plus JPJ House fee of $1.00 for members and $2.00 for guests.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 15, SHORT HIKE (3 - 4 MILES) Nixon Park, part #3
Well one thing is for sure no Autumn leaves. Now hopefully the Gods will be on our side this time. Of course, with my luck we will have a blizzard. This hopefully will be a 3-4 miles hike in familiar territory. Some hills to climb but nothing we can't do.

Meeting Location: Lower parking lot. Time: 1:30 P.M.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, COVERED DISH DINNER AND APPALACHIAN TRAIL TALK: Gwen Loose will give a talk about the three women who helped to get the Appalachian Trail started. This will be at the York Township Park Building.at 25 Oak Street at 6:30 to 9PM.

Our place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, SHORT HIKE (4.5 miles) Let’s go just South of the Mason Dixon Line to near Parkton, MD. There we will hike on the Northern Central Railroad Trail called the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail. We will walk along beautiful icy Fourth Mine Branch of Little Falls Creek. I am hoping for a light covering of snow to accentuate the icy decorations.

Meeting Location: York County High School of Technology (Vo-Tec) off Queen Street or at trail head Departure Time:1 PM

SUNDAY, JANUARY 29, 2023, SHORT HIKE (5 MILES) Codorus Park will the location for this circle hike. There are wonderful views of the lake and the woods surrounding. The Mary Anne Trail will be one of the paths followed. Wear hiking boots for it may be muddy and possibly there could be some snow decorations.

Meeting Location: Codorus Park Campground Parking Lot off Dubs Church Road Depart Time: 9AM

Open Board Positions – Volunteers needed for the following Club Roles:
Secretary, Activities Committee, Trails Committee and Director at Large. The club needs club members to volunteer to help manage the York Hiking Club mission to create, promote, and encourage outdoor recreation, with emphasis on hiking. Please contact Alan Noble at 717-758-8470 or by email at , if you would like to volunteer for any of the club roles.

2023 Hike Leaders Wanted: Please contact Alan Noble (717-758-8470 or ) if you would like to start leading hikes for the club. We can partner new hike leaders with experienced hike leaders.

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at
