SUNDAY JAN 2nd- SHORT HIKE: 4-mile hike near Lake Williams and Redman. We will hike from parking area beside Lake Williams to Trail 1 Loop near Lake Redman. Bring water, snacks and sturdy hiking shoes.

Meeting location: From the north (York) take S George St to Jacobus, pass Olp’s flower shop on left. Take next right on Water Street (which will have road closed signs.) Drive down the hill about a half mile past residential area into the woods. Take right to parking. There is a restroom at this parking lot.
Departure: 1:00 P.M.

Sunday, January 9 - Long Hike (13 miles) We’ll start on the far west side of Greenbrier State Park in Maryland. After hiking some of the park trails, we’ll hike to the AT via a connector trail and head north to Annapolis Rocks. We’ll visit the overlook and check out a few side trails. The return to the vehicles will be on different trails within the park. 

For those meeting at the park the parking lot address is roughly 8134 Mountain Laurel Rd, Boonsboro, MD 21713. If you park in the main lot we will never find you. Maryland does charge a parking fee so carpooling is encouraged. 
Meeting Location: I 83 and MD 439 Park & Ride, Exit 36 in MARYLAND (east side of 83)
Departure Time 7:30 AM

January 15 Saturday: 8-mile loop hike departing promptly at 9:30 from JPJ. There will be some ups and downs along with some great views of the Susquehanna River. 

Meet off the Wrightsville exit at 8:45 to caravan down to JPJ or 
Meet promptly at 9:15 at JPJ. (1145 Furnace Rd, York)

Sunday, January 23, Short Hike (3 miles) Hollow Creek Greenway is beautiful anytime of the year.

Meeting Location: Hollow Creek Greenway parking lot on Valley Road just past the turn to Nixon Park.
Meeting Time: 1:30 P.M.

January 30: Short Hike: Hike has been moved to the rail trail at Brill Heart station beginning at 1;30.trail conditions at Nixon park are too ice covered. 
Depending on the weather we will either hike at the Nixon Park, which I hope or the rail trail. So you will have to contact the leader to find out where we will be going. The hike will begin at 1:30 P.M. We will meet at the lower parking lot at the park or Brillhart Station. Hey a little mystery is good for you.

Board Member and Officer Openings: The club is in need of some members to take over some very important roles, with immediate openings for Activities Chair, Trails Chair, and Secretary. These roles are critical to the ongoing operation of the club. For more information you may contact Alan Noble, President or the outgoing chairmen, David Lukes (Activities) and Tom Morley (Trails).

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

A sheet is handed out to all New hikers at the parking lots before the hikes.

 

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
