All are welcome to come on out on a hike to see what the club is all about.

 

A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

Saturday, December 2, long Hike (9.5 miles): Beautiful walk along Muddy Creek stream. The trail is mostly narrow with some rockiness but well maintained (blue blazes). Bring lunch, good shoes, poles and water. I am a volunteer to lead hikes. Please be patient and let's have fun. No grouchy people allowed.

Meeting Location: York County High School of Technology (Vo-Tec) parking lot or 517 S Cold Cabin Rd, Delta, PA 17314

Meeting Time: 8:15 a.m. at the School or 9:00 a.m. at the park. Call hike leader if plan carpooling

Saturday, December 9, Medium Hike (7 miles): We will walk on the side of the Susquehanna River from Marietta to Koser Park. There is lot’s to see, and without a doubt lot's to talk about. Waterfront Park is the halfway mark and a great place to have some refreshments and take pictures. Once we reach Koser Park, we will car pool back to Marietta and say our good-byes. This is not a difficult hike. The route is flat and paved. All you need is a good pair of shoes, something to drink, and a snack if you desire to do so. You will not need to bring hiking poles. 

Meeting Location: Koser Park, 107 Race Street Bainbridge, PA 17502. If you prefer to meet Red Robin, call the Hike leader to be guided to Koser Park. This is a shuttle hike and involves carpooling to Marietta.

Sunday, December 17, Medium Hike (6-7 miles): We will do a perimeter loop around Rocky Ridge park. Terrain can be rocky, so please bring sturdy hiking shoes, optional poles, water and snacks.


Meeting Location: First parking lot on the left as you go into Rocky Ridge from Deininger Rd
Meeting Time: 9 A.m.

Saturday, December 23, Medium Hike (6-8 miles): On this hike we start at visitor center parking lot walking down road to find trail 4, turn left meeting trail 7 Middle Creek trail which follows an abandoned trolley line right-of-way along Middle Creek stream. Then we'll connect w/ Elder's Run trail which has old house remains, bridge and other surprises. We'll turn right on Horseshoe Trail following that across the road to see the dam, explore Millstone trail which has a vista, return to Horseshoe trail then return to trail 4. There may be small hills, mostly wooded easy trails. Those who desire may check out a new addition to their beautiful Nature Center loaded w/ conservation and hunting/wildlife history of the area. Wear good hiking shoes, dress for weather, bring plenty of water, snacks and lunch. Maybe we'll see geese, ducks and birds!

Boscov's East ParkingRed Robin, optional behind National Clock Museum lot in Columbia PA, or at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area - 100 Museum Rd, Stevens PA - first lot at 9 a.m.

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

A sheet is handed out to all New hikers at the parking lots before the hikes.

 

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
