SUNDAY DECEMBER 7 - LONG HIKE WITH OPTIONS (10 MILES): PINE GROVE FURNACE STATE PARK

THURSDAY, JANUARY 1, MEDIUM HIKE (6 MILES): FIRST DAY HIKE
About 6 easy miles on the Hanover Trolley Trail. Includes the newest section! Mostly flat, crushed stone trail paralleling over 10 acres of wetlands. Left-over holiday cookies welcome. 

MEETING TIME & LOCATION: Meet at 10:00 AM at Woodberry Road parking or 10:30 AM at Moul Field, Moul Ave, Hanover.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 3, LONG HIKE (10 MILES): MASON-DIXON TRAIL
This hike is the first in a series of hikes that will take us from the western terminus at Whiskey Springs (junction of AT and MDT) to the eastern terminus at Chadds Ford (junction of MDT and Brandywine trail) along the Mason-Dixon Trail (About 210 miles). This segment is completely on roads and is quite hilly with some significant ups and downs. This hike will be a shuttle hike. We will park cars at Franklin Township Park (5.7 miles) and hike to the cars. This will be break/lunch time. We will drive across Route 15 (hiking across will be too dangerous) and drop cars at Old Mountain Road/ Robson Road parking area. We will drive back and park at the State Game Lands parking lot (7 miles) and finish the last 4.1 miles. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and wear orange so the cars can see you.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 4: SHORT HIKE (3-4 MILES) NIXON PARK
As usual this will be an excruciating pace along the usual trails, well maybe I can add something. The weather this time of year is unpredictable so come prepared. Remember my generation walked up hill in ten feet of snow in both directions. I promise we will not be walking through the neighborhood this time.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 11, 2025: P0RK AND SAUERKRAUT HIKE (5 miles) 
The hike starts at 10:00 AM over the wonderful local well-maintained trails near JPJ. Drena Kinghorn will be the chef for the Pork and Sauerkraut NEW YEAR’S MEAL. It will be served at 1:30 PM. Fee for the delicious meal will be $6.00 plus JPJ House fee of $1.00 for members and $2.00 for guests.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17, LONG HIKE (11.3 MILES): MASON-DIXON TRAIL
This hike is the second hike of a series on the Mason-Dixon Trail. We will hike on state game lands, do some road walking, and finish in Pinchot State Park. There is little elevation change. There is only about 4 miles of road walking today. We will drop cars off at the Conewago Day Use Area and drive to Old Mountain Road/ Robson Road parking lot. This is a point-to-point hike. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and wear orange so cars and hunters can see you.

SUNDAY JANUARY 18 - SHORT HIKE (3-5 MILES): PINCHOT STATE PARK
3-To-5-mile hike depending on the group. Some climbs, but good trails. Hiking boots and water advised.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 26, Short Hike (4.5 miles): TORREY C. BROWN RAIL TRAIL
Let’s go just South of the Mason Dixon Line to near Parkton, MD! There we will hike on the Northern Central Railroad Trail called the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail. We will walk along beautiful Fourth Mine Branch of Little Falls Creek. With the icy weather it will be interesting to see what the creek looks like.

CARPOOL OPTION: Departure Time from York Vo tech is 1:00 PM - Carpool Fee: $1.00 
MEETING TIME AND LOCATION: York County High School of Technology (Vo-Tec) off Queen Street or at trail head at 1:30 PM
