SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, MEDIUM HIKE, (6 Miles): TURKEY HILL TRAIL
DESCRIPTION: Loop hike starting from the parking Lot at the Northern End of the Enola Low Grade Rail Trail up to the top of Turkey Hill on the Turkey Hill Trail. We can enjoy a great view of the mighty Susquehanna River and check out the wind turbines at a close range. We will continue to the Chestnut Grove Natural Area and return along the Susquehanna River on the Enola Low Grade Trail. The trail includes a stream crossing and also a steep hill. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and don’t forget snacks.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, SHORT HIKE, (3-4 Miles): ROCKY RIDGE COUNTY PARK
DESCRIPTION: We are meeting at the rear parking lot at 10:00 A.M. hiking boots/poles advisable as the trails will be covered with falling leaves, and there are rocks along the trail. That’s why it is called “Rocky Ridge”. Bring water and snacks. Let’s hope for a sunny day, but if Mother Nature has different plans, call us for an update. Looking forward to seeing you on the trail

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9, MEDIUM HIKE (5 Miles): LOCH RAVEN RESERVOIR, NORTHWEST AREA TRAILS
DESCRIPTION: Up and down beautiful ravines through open forest. Well-maintained trail except lots of downed trees to go over or under. Several of the hills are quite steep. There is no good place for lunch on the hike, so lunch at casual dining place afterwards – suggestions accepted. Take: suggested: Trekking poles, long pants since the first part of the trail has low plants, maybe with ticks and I also recommend insect repellent.

County High School of Technology (Vo-Tec), 8:30 A.M. or Trailhead: 9:15 A.M. Text or call leader if meeting there.
Directions: Take the Shawan Rd. exit off I-83. Shawan east to York Rd. York Rd. south to Warren Rd. Go 1.7 miles on Warren Rd. to trailhead. Parking is pull-offs on either side of the road. If you go over the steel bridge (a recommended diversion, if you have time), you’ve gone too far.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15, MEDIUM HIKE (5-6 Miles): CLARK AND TUCQUAN GLEN NATURE PRESERVES
DESCRIPTION: On this hike we'll see a Wind Cave, enjoy the House Rock Overlook plus other river views during our Tucquan Glen loop hike. Leaves should be changing and falling in these beautiful southern Lancaster county River Hills. This is a moderate level hike as there are a couple ups and downs, nothing major. There is a side trail for those wanting to avoid a steep downhill which may be leaf slippery. Wear strong hiking shoes, bring lots of water, snacks and lunch if desired.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, MEDIUM HIKE (5 Miles): NIXON PARK HIKE
DESCRIPTION: A warmup hike for the Turkey Hike next day. Let’s meet at 10:00 A.M. at the Nixon Park nature center and walk and talk rediscovering familiar paths. We might spot some wildlife, and we can explore what changes and additions were made to the park over the summer months. There are some inclines, but basically the terrain is easy to maneuver. For less experienced or less ambitious hikers, we can always make a loop to the parking lot and drop them safely off. Hiking poles and snacks optional, water a must.

SUNDAY, NOV 23, TURKEY HIKE – MEMBERS ONLY – ANNUAL TURKEY DINNER
Hike starts at 10 A.M. Meal served at 1:30 P.M., hot cider and cookies at 1:00 P.M. You must sign up in advance for the meal. We will need turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and cranberries, 2 to 3 kinds of vegetables, rolls, butter, desserts, cider and cookies. PLEASE NOTE: Dues have increased to $15 annually and must be paid before the dinner.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29, MEDIUM HIKE (6.5 Miles): CALEDONIA STATE PARK
DESCRIPTION: We will hike along the Hosack Run Loop via the Appalachian Trail through scenic woods and the mountain for about 5.4 miles. The trail is rated moderate with an elevation gain of 928 feet. Bring snacks and water. We will probably stop somewhere about midway through the hike.
Meeting Time and Location: As you enter Caledonia State Park from Route 30 on Pine Grove Road, go about 600 ft past the Furnace Dam, and on your left, there will be parking in the
Caledonia State Park Group Camping area. We will meet there at 9:00 A.M.
