Short Hike at Lake Redman on Sunday, May 4th 10 a.m. We will meet in the parking lot on Sparton Road, just off of Hess Farm Road. From there we will walk on the road for a short distance to connect with trail #5 and enjoy a walk around part of Lake Redman, passing through the bird sanctuary toward the end of the hike. This hike is approximately 3 miles with a few mild climbs along the way. Come out and join us for a stroll through a very pretty area of York County. Be sure to call ahead if bad weather in forecast.

Saturday, May 10 Long hike 15-16 miles, this hike is along Appalachian Trail from Lehigh Gap to Leroy Smith shelter then blue blazed Katellen Trail back down to Game lands parking lot. There are frequent views along Blue Mountain at Little Gap, Smith Gap and near Leroy Smith shelter. This is a challenging hike as it starts with a difficult rock climb up Lehigh Gap so not for beginners. Parts are extremely rocky. The view at top is worth your effort though! There is a detour from last year’s fire which is a rock scramble then after that unremarkable. Trail follows ridgetop of Blue Mountain. There is parking lot at Smith Gap for those wanting shorter 12 mile hike. Wear sturdy, ankle-supporting hiking boots, bring lots of water, lunch, snacks, (carry headlamp just in case), dress in layers per weather hiking poles if desired.
