Sunday, December 1, Medium Loop Hike (7.6 miles): Rocky Ridge Perimeter Trail. Mix of flat terrain and a few easy ups and downs. The average weight gain during Thanksgiving is
0.8 to just under 2.0 pounds. Let’s see if we can work some of it off. Bring snack, water, etc. It’s PA hunting Sunday. Please have your orange on.
Sunday, December 29:– SHORT HIKE (4 MILES): This will be a loop hike around part of Lake Redman. Meet at the parking lot off Spartan Road. Some hills, but a relatively easy hike.
Blue links below take you to a map
page!
Inclement Weather: Please contact the hike leader or check our Facebook page for cancellation
information.

Sunday, December 8, Medium Hike (7.5 miles): Most of this hike follows the Mason-Dixon Trail through the Robert Kinsley Nature Preserve. Although listed in All Trails as a 10-miler, we will take a little shortcut, making it a lollypop rather than an out-and-back. Also, I would really consider this hike to be Moderate, not Hard. There are a few parts that are very steep or rocky, so trekking poles would be a good idea. We will stop for lunch at an overlook, so don’t forget it’s December and bring your puffy. And lunch, obviously.
Meeting Location: Boscov's East Parking at Galleria Mall near Red Robin.
Meeting Time: 9:00 AM
You can meet us at the trailhead at 9:30 -- parking is on the shoulder of River Rd. right after it crosses Furnace Rd. in Hellam Township. Parking is limited there. Call the hike leader if you are meeting us there.
Carpool Fee: $1

Sunday, November 15, Long Hike (12 miles): Long, loop hike. Caledonia State Park. Approximately 12 miles beginning
at the end of Quarry Gap Rd. Hike follows the Appalachian Trail past Quarry Gap shelter and PATC’s Milesburn Cabin, connecting to
Rocky Knob Trail, then around the Chambersburg Reservoir on the Beaver Trail. Two good climbs, several rocky sections, one stream
crossing, and lots of rhododendrons. Bring lunch, snacks and water, good hiking shoes, and dress in layers.
Meeting Location: Woodberry
Road parking 8:00 AM or end of Quarry Gap Rd. at 9:00 AM
Carpool Fee: $5

Saturday, December 21, Medium Hike (6 miles): We will explore the trails around Nixon Park. There are some inclines and hiking sticks can be an asset with possibly wet leaves or icy conditions depending on weather. Anyone wearing Holiday attire will receive a candy cane from hike leader. Bring a snack, water, and be prepared to sing at least one Christmas song. If enough interest we can have a sit-down lunch at a restaurant of our choice afterwards.
Meeting Location: Nixon Park Nature Center located at 5922 Nixon Dr, York, PA 17403
Meeting Time: 10 AM

Sunday, Dec. 22: Medium hike 8 miles: Come on out for a vigorous hike on the Mason-Dixon Trail along Susq River; will start at Long Level then south on trail. Hopefully we'll see birds like hawks, eagles, seagulls, waterfalls if running! There is a rock scramble in beginning called Dragon Spine to geocaches. Then trail is rolling hills in woods w/ some rocky sections at descents to Green branch and Cuff's Run. For those wanting shorter hike, you may turn back at Green branch or anytime though on your own. Bring plenty of water, snacks/lunch and sturdy hiking shoes, poles if desired. Not a beginner hike b/c many rocks- more difficult for experienced hikers, very FUN w/ careful stepping!
